Onam, The festival of Kerala..

Today we peple from kerala celebrate our festival Onam.. we are having Onam celebrations in all over kerala.. its our festival of joy and clebrations and most beautiful month we concider in our Place

we have lot of celebrations, Dances, arts etc in this time of the year.. Kerala's rice harvest festival and the Festival of Rain Flowers, which fall on the month of Chingam, celebrates the Asura King Mahabali's annual visit from the underworld

This is Onam floral design we make with flowers . and you can also see the traditional Onam dress for woman.. These designs are an ethnic highlight of the Onam festival ... 'Pookalam' is the nickname for the unique classic, floral patterns created in front of every house on the great festival here.. 
Pookalam is prepared without adding any artificial colors. Traditional Pookalam pattern created in ten rings, which stand for the ten days advance of the festival.

Next important , we have is our typical Onam sadya.. as you can see in the above images, is a variety of vegetarian dishes traditionally served on a banana leaf in KeralaDuring a traditional Sadhya celebration,  people are seated cross-legged on mats. Food is eaten with the right hand,  The traditional dessert called Payasam served at the end of the meal ...


We also make a special kind of swing called as oonjaal during onam and it was very interesting for me while i was small.. you can see an images of swing on top
